Choosing someone to care for your dog is a big decision, and letting someone into your home to do it? Even bigger. At Rustic Paw Adventures, every new client begins with a complimentary Meet & Greet. Here’s why that first meeting isn’t just a formality; it’s essential for your dog’s safety, comfort, and overall well-being.
What Is a Dog Walking Meet & Greet?
A Meet & Greet is a short, friendly in-person visit that takes place before your dog’s first scheduled walk. It’s our chance to:
- Get to know your dog’s personality
- Discuss their routine and preferences
- Review health needs, behavior quirks, and emergency contacts
Most importantly, it’s about building trust between you, your pup, and me as their walker.
Why the Meet & Greet Matters (a Lot)
1. Your Dog Deserves a Familiar Face
Just like people, dogs do best when they know who’s showing up at the door. Meeting in advance helps reduce anxiety and allows your dog to associate me with positive experiences before we head out on an adventure.
2. We Talk Temperament and Leash Manners
Does your dog pull on leash? Are they shy, reactive, or easily overstimulated? This is where we chat through it all. No judgment, just open, honest discussion so I can tailor every walk to your dog’s needs.
3. Safety First, Always
We’ll review:
- Vet info & emergency contacts
- Allergies or medications
- Any do-not-enter zones in your home
- How your dog interacts with people, other dogs, and the environment
Having this info upfront keeps everyone safe and sets your pup up for success.
4. We Review the Booking Process
During the Meet & Greet, I’ll show you how to create your profile in Time to Pet, the secure portal I use for:
- Scheduling
- Payments
- Visit notes & messaging
It keeps everything organized and ensures transparency for both of us.
5. We Set Clear Expectations—Together
How many walks a week? What’s your pup’s favorite post-walk routine? We cover it all, so there are no surprises later.
What to Have Ready for Your Meet & Greet
To make the most of our time, please have:
- Your dog’s leash, harness, and current ID tags
- A list of feeding/medication instructions if applicable
- Emergency vet contact
- Access instructions (key, lockbox, garage code)
This is your chance to ask me questions, too, I want you to feel 100% confident.
More Than a Service, It’s a Relationship
I don’t just walk dogs, I build relationships. That starts with the Meet & Greet. When your dog knows me and feels safe, our adventures are smoother, more enjoyable, and truly beneficial.
I care about your pet like they’re part of my own pack. And that kind of trust begins face-to-face.
